The Hunger Free Campus Checklist is a statewide initiative to address disparities in food insecurity on college campuses through program implementation and systems reform to ensure that all students in Colorado have the resources they need. It’s hard to ensure that students are receiving the food they need to fuel their studies, but there’s asimple way your school can help. Include a checkbox on the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch form thatprompts a referral to our Food Resource Hotline. Once Hunger Free Colorado receives the referral,food resource navigators reach out and help families apply for the Supplemental Nutrition AssistanceProgram (SNAP) and connect them to nearby food resources. Students participating in SNAP areautomatically certified for free school meals.
The Breakfast After the Bell program takes the traditional school breakfast and improves it. By making breakfast available to all children after the school day begins, students are much more likely to participate.
