Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics is the first medical partner of the Sprout Clinic, a program of Hunger Free Colorado, made possible with the generous support from a donor-advised fund of The Denver Foundation.
Of the 300 patient families surveyed at three RMYC clinics, 46 percent had reported that their homes struggled to put food on the table. At the Sprout Clinic, children and their families will work with a pediatrician, registered dietitian and social worker to ensure they have the support and resources necessary to grow and thrive during this instrumental period of development.
In conjunction with the clinic-based care, the Sprout Clinic provides access to supplemental high-calorie and nutritious food, free of charge, for each family with the Food Pharmacy.
The first Sprout Clinic is open at the RMYC’s clinic in Thornton and already is booked out six weeks—before we have even done any outreach to referring physicians or families—so the need for support is critical.
