IRA Charitable Rollover

The IRA Charitable Rollover, also known as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), is a distribution of funds from an IRA that is made directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as Hunger Free Colorado. The law allows individuals who are 70 1/2 or older to make a charitable gift of up to $100,000 from an IRA account. Because the gift goes directly to the charity, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income. A QCD can also satisfy the required minimum distribution from an IRA account. Please consult your financial advisor for additional information regarding your particular situation or exceptions.

Many individuals who are required to annually distribute money from their IRA, but do not need it for living expenses have chosen to make QCDs to support the work of Hunger Free Colorado. Contact our Director of Development, Suzanne Bruce at 303.228.7979 if you would like to further discuss this type of donation to Hunger Free Colorado.
